Neal creates a solid funk and soul album that is as danceable as it is thought provoking. From the opening chords of the title track, "Changes," it becomes clear that Francis isn't just imitating the greats of the 70s—he's living in that same frequency.
The production is warm, saturated, and feels undeniably analog. Every instrument has its own pocket of air, a testament to the recording process used at the Colemine facilities. On a high-end system, the punch of the snare and the grit of the Wurlitzer cut through with startling clarity.
"This isn't just a throwback; it's a continuation of a legacy of groove that never should have left the spotlight."
If you are looking for a record that tests your system's ability to handle complex, mid-tempo rhythms without becoming muddy, this is the one. It demands to be played loud, preferably with a cold drink in hand and the lights dimmed low.
